Current rapid growth of digital content industry coupled with the implementation of
Thailand 4.0 policy by the government in driving Thailand’s digital economy have created more
diverse communication and marketing channels. Current marketing strategies which mainly
focus on accessing consumers therefore cannot shun away from the production of high quality
contents in a form of interesting digital contents to maximize awareness among the target
group. As a result, the role of computer graphics and interactive techniques have started to
become increasingly important in the age of digital contents not only in terms of producing
interesting contents but also creating business opportunities and opportunities for those
involved in this industry to develop their capacity and lastly building a collaboration network
among all sectors. To fulfill these objectives, SIGGRAPH Asia is therefore organized year after
year.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Surapong Lertsithichai, President of Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH,
mentioned that “Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH is a non-profit organization that strives to strengthen
technology potential and expertise. Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH is also responsible for organizing
SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 which is the biggest conference and exhibition on computer graphics and
interactive techniques in Asia. This year Thailand has been given the honor in hosting the event
which shall take place at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center, Bangna, Bangkok,
from 27-30 November 2017. SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 will showcase some of the world’s top
professionals and creative minds specialized in computer graphics and interactive techniques.
At the same time, it is expected to help improve local and global marketing channels in digital
content industry, including forming international collaboration network between digital
contents organizations and entrepreneurs in various countries to help promote future business
partnerships and developing the capacity of Thai digital content entrepreneurs to ensure they
are fully ready for entering the global market. Entrepreneurs worldwide are invited to listen
and discuss on current situations and investment trend in Thailand. The event also focuses on
strengthening digital content intellectual property rights in global stage by providing a business
platform for serving digital content industry, including initiating marketing promotion for latest
innovative products and services and continuously developing Thailand’s computer graphics
and interactive techniques and digital content industry.”

SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 under the concept of "The Celebration of Life and Technology” which
mainly aims to show how technology can be used to transform how digital contents are
presented and open us up to whole new experiences not to mention introducing the new
frontier of digital photography, research, science, arts, animation, interactive techniques and
education. Latest technologies have also helped to widen our learning experience and
developed new marketing strategies to enable access to wider range of consumer groups. This
year’s event will be focusing on promoting digital contents knowledge by world’s top
professionals, including forming business networking, enhancing personnel capacity and driving
Thailand toward becoming Computer Graphics and Digital Contents Hub of ASEAN Economic
Community (AEC) since both industries are the keys to mobilizing Thailand’s creative economy
under Thailand 4.0 policy. The event is expected to be joined by over 7,000 professionals from
various countries worldwide working in digital content industry, which can help to further
develop and expand Thailand’s digital content industry in continuous manner.”
SIGGRAPH Asia 2017 is sponsored by several state agencies, Digital Economy Promotion
Agency (DEPA), Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), Department of
International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, Thailand Convention & Exhibition
Bureau (Public Organization) (TCEB) including various associations namely Bangkok ACM
SIGGRAPH Association (BASA), Thai Animation & Computer Graphics Association (TACGA),
Digital Content Association Thailand (DCAT), e-Learning Association of Thailand (ELAT) and Thai
Game Software Industry Association (TGA).
