6-hands Dinner with Portuguese Michelin Star Chefs

The seventh episode of Portugal, the New Dawn, whereby il Fumo hosts a pop-up dinner showcasing new Portuguese cuisine, debuted the very first six hands all-Portuguese dinner with leading lights of new-wave Portuguese cuisine. We welcome Chef Alexandre Silva of 1-Michelin Star Loco Restaurant and Chef António Amorim of Fábrica Pastel de Feijão from Lisbon, Portugal to join hands with our chef Nelson Amorim.

Chef Alexandre Silva trained at the prestigious 3-Michelin Star (and No. 1 in WORLD’S 50 BEST RESTAURANTS 2013 & 2015) El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. He is also the winner of the 1st edition of Top Chef Portugal in 2012. Alexandre was an Executive Chef of Bica do Sapato, one the most iconic restaurants in the country, before opened his first restaurant ‘Alexandre Silva no Mercado’, in partnership with Time Out Lisbon Magazine. In 2015, he opened ‘Loco’ Restaurant – proposing experimental Portuguese cuisine and subsequently gained one Michelin star within 8 months of opening.

Chef António Amorim, older brother of our chef-partner Nelson Amorim, has been working in many forefront restaurants in Portugal for more than 20 years including 1-Michelin Star Feitoria in Lisbon and 2-Michelin Star Vila Joya in the Algarve. In 2015, he opened his first restaurant ‘A’ in Torres Vedras and the award-winning Portuguese patisserie Fábrica Pastel de Feijão in 2017.

For two nights only, the three chefs will present you 7-course dinner featuring cutting-edge modern Portuguese cuisines. Expect the dishes like Chef Nelson’s version of Portuguese rice and Chef Antonio’s much-lauded Pastel de Feijao (Portuguese beans cake).
